It doesn’t rain, it pours they say, and for Spurs that is undoubtedly true—a fifteen-day schedule.

The nightmare for the team will be a 15-day schedule that we face at the start of the season

The Carabao Cup released their schedule last week, and as I stated, we could face an unparalleled level of fixture cramming in at the start of this up and coming season. We will have to navigate three rounds of Europa League qualification games inserted between our Premier League games.

I can reveal that if we advance to the third round of Europa League qualifying and the fourth round of the League Cup, then we could be faced with two matches in 48 hours.

Let me give you an example:

September 17 to October 4:

September 17 – Europa League Q2

September 20 – Premier League

September 22 – Carabao Cup R3

September 24 – Europa League Q3

September 27 – Premier League

September 29 – Carabao Cup R4

October 1 – Europa League PO

October 4 – Premier League

It is the likelihood that the EFL will rearrange the cup fixtures if the schedule gets excessively choked for some teams.

Thoughts:

I can see – if push becomes shove – that Mourinho might do what Liverpool did and in some games put out the youngsters. Even though he wants to win everything he might have to prioritise what competition is more important. That is if we end up having a calamity where we have an away game in the far reaches of Europe less than 48 hours after participating in a Premier League or a League Cup match.

It is going to be a very tricky season for any manager who has the ambition to bring trophies to their club. Luck is going to play a very, very important part for us if we hope to win anything.

COYS!
