Defoe Out For 6 Weeks
« on: September 09, 2010, 01:46:04 PM »
Quote
Tottenham Hotspur star Jermain Defoe has been ruled out for six weeks with an ankle injury.

Defoe sustained the injury midway through the second half of England's win over Switzerland on Tuesday night.

The striker hoped the injury was not too serious after the match, but scans have shown Defoe has suffered ankle ligament damage.

The injury is set to sideline Defoe for six weeks at least and means he will miss several of Spurs' Champions League group games, starting with next week's trip to Werder Bremen.

The 27-year-old is also likely to sit out England's next Euro 2012 qualifier at home to Montenegro next month.

The news is a major blow for Defoe as he was establishing himself as a regular in Fabio Capello's side after scoring a hat-trick in last week's win over Bulgaria.

The injury is another headache for Spurs boss Harry Redknapp as he is already without Michael Dawson for two months after the defender sustained a knee injury against Bulgaria.

"Even if it's a bad sprain, you're still talking about six weeks or so, because it's a nasty one," said Redknapp.

another Injury at a bad time

Is this Keane's chance to get back on track?

I think he has to take his chance. And I hope he does.

Of all the areas in the team this is our 'weakest' and losing JD isn't going to help lets hope the other 3 strikers and Van der Vaart can fill the hole !!!

its a straight-swap scenario.... vdV will now play leftside forward instead of Defoe, and partner either Pav or Crouch...

Keano will remain as backup for if/when vdV is also injured..

couldnt've planned it better myself...

I have no idea what a DDOS attack is but it sounds a bit like a girl with large breasts attacking us? Is there any video of the attack as i would like to watch that one day?

Makes one wonder why you are happy that our best striker is out for a long time.

It's time to Harry use VdV in the hole. With Pav or Crouchie as a lone striker.

I bet HR will play that way.

What chance that Defoe would have converted that late chance against Bremen. But on the other hand he would never have got up to score that header for our 2nd. Cant win really lol.

What if...
... there was no hangover?
... Stalin and Hitler would have never born?
... we had X-ray vision?
... we hadn't sold Berbastard and Keane back in 2008?
... Gareth Keown would just disappear?
... we could persuade Lineker and Sheringham to come out of retirement?
... England could once deliver at a major tournament?

The list goes on and on.

But yeah, you're right, for every pro there is a con.
