Brendan Rogers: Is he coming, or is he not?

Brendan Rogers: Is he coming, or is he not?

First, the news was that Brendan Rogers was a cert, then he was wasn’t, and now he might be, and the speculation continues rolling along.

Brendan Rogers should ask himself; what can I get from Spurs that I can’t get from Leicester? According to some reports, he would get higher wages than he gets at the Foxes, if he does come. He probably would get roughly the same investment as the Foxes give him. However, Rogers does like working with the youth, and we have one of the best youth policies in the world. The downside would be Daniel Levy. According to what I’ve heard, the owners allow him to get on with the job, while Levy likes to keep his finger on the pulse.

According to Robbie Savage, he believes that Spurs have a chance of tempting Rodgers to join should his club fail to secure a Champions League place. “It’s not inconceivable that Brendan would look at the Tottenham job and think it could be the next step for him. He will stay at Leicester if they are in the Champions League, but what big job will come up in the next year that Rodgers might get? He won’t get Liverpool again, the Manchester clubs are out, Thomas Tuchel is doing well at Chelsea, so you are looking at Spurs and Arsenal. Brendan Rodgers is good enough to manage any club in world football,”

It has been reported that the club has prepared a shortlist of targets to manage the team, but was Brendan Rogers name on it?

My thoughts:

I’ve always thought that getting Rogers would be a good one. He has done an excellent job with Leicester, and of course, he won trophies with Celtic (but then again, who wouldn’t?). As for Liverpool… well, we’ll leave it there, but we all learn from past oversights.

Rogers also produced good football wherever he has managed, and a lot of the candidates that have been mentioned have question marks over their heads (their style etc.). However, for me, the more significant question is, could he work with Levy? Can anybody work with Levy?

  1. Hi Glenn. Yes, key Q is can he work with DL?? He will be asking thecsame Q. I like Rogers and he has that Keith Burkinshaw feel about him. Him or Conti or Allegri…they can attract players too.

    1. Hi Sergio, I agree. I think Levy will have to change his outlook. He is supposed to be a very hard person to work with.
