On Saturday (15th) there will be an organised protest outside our Tottenham Stadium at 10pm by loyal Tottenham fans to show their anger at the club’s owners over various matters, such as the handling of the club by Daniel Levy, including our involvement of the botched European Super League plans.
Ryan Mason, however, has praised the Board and their importance and claims that they have been “incredible” over the past decade. He probably means building our magnificent stadium, not our trophy haul or the wisdom of giving dud manager’s (including himself) jobs in guiding our team to failure over the years.
Ryan Mason told Football.London: “I respect the fans. They’re the heart and soul of this football club. Our chairman and Board have been incredible for this football club in the past 15-20 years. I think the fans see that. Everyone is entitled to our opinion.”
Of course, they see that; that is why they are protesting on Saturday. To be fair, and from observing social media, fans are split over their support of Levy and the Board. Some think they are doing a good job. In contrast, others are disgusted that we don’t put the same money in to purchase quality players as the other five elite clubs do, and thus challenge for top honours (European Champions League and Premier League title).
As for Mason’s comments, he is in a precarious position; criticising the Board would jeopardise his future prospects at Tottenham. So what he said was him just being diplomatic. Then again, it might be his way of saying, “Give me the job, I’ve been loyal… let failures continue under my management, as I am a good a failure as anybody my mate Daniel can get.” And it would be truthful. God bless him.
