I want the Tottenham managers job (no, not me, another!)

It has been reported that a 47-year-old manager is desperately pushing for the Tottenham job

The well known “Football Insider “ has revealed that Roberto Martinez is making a ‘huge play’ for the Tottenham Hotspur job behind the scenes. There are many it seems who want the job, according to the papers, and Martinez is one of several coaches across Europe who has been linked with the vacancy for weeks

The football journalist Alasdair Gold, from Football.London, has stated earlier this week that Levy has narrowed down his search to a shortlist and that the Belgian boss is one of the candidates who is still in the running to replace Jose Mourinho. It seems he is eager to return to the Premier League and is now pushing extremely hard to be Levy’s man. It is believed that Levy or somebody from the board has made contact with Roberto Martinez, who is now one of the leading contenders for the role.

He supposedly had outlined to a Spurs official why he would be suitable for the job and that his sucking up has caught the attention of Levy and the board. And if he does get the job, he would quit his post as the Belgium national team manager after this summer’s European Championship if he is offered the role.

My Thoughts.

Considering how things ended for him at Everton, I can’t see him being a good choice for us. Yes, he might have done a good job with Belgium, however, there is nothing in his managerial record to suggest that he would be up for the job to get us back competing at the top with the other big 5. And don’t forget he also took Wigan Atheltic down to the Championship (a few days after winning the FA Cup with them).

But what do you think? You might disagree with me and feel his failures might compliment Levy’s style? After all, why should Daniel start thinking of getting an excellent manager when his achievements have been in the other direction. That way, Martinez, Parker, Mason and some other green neck might be ideal for the job? Which could also mean paying out less wages. And Martinez did win the FA Cup, and if he could win another lowly trophy with us, it would get the critics off Levy’s back.

Sorted, Martinez for the next job!

  1. does it mater who the manager is the same thing will happen qont get backed be made a scapegoat and we will have the same conversation in a couple of years level want a yes man

    1. A lot of what you say is true. Just look at Brendan Rogers, the owners don’t have the same amount of money as Spurs, but they backed and had faith in him. Levy wants his fingers in every pie.
