Levy tried, and yes, he is very trying!
According to Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano Antonio Conte has not changed his mind about the head coach vacancy at Tottenham Hotspur, even though Levy has been pushing. Romano has claimed that the club were attempting to find a solution but were unable to do so.
Levy thought that appointing Fabio Paratici as Sporting Director might have persuaded Conte to take the job, but sadly it didn’t work. Paratici left Juventus last month and had worked with Conte between 2011 and 2014.
Sky Sports stated that Levy decided to shelve plans to appoint Conte because of concerns he had over his demands (which they believed were unrealistic). One of those concerns was that Conte didn’t want to work with youngsters. On the other side of the coin, Conte has said that he was unconvinced that Tottenham as a team were ready to win trophies immediately.
Thoughts.
I think anybody could see that we weren’t ready to win trophies (years of financial starvation contributed to that). Still, the job of any manager, new or old, was to try to correct that, with Levy and the Boards support.
One thing that does concern me is the comments about Conte “not wishing to work with the youth”. Any manager should work with new blood; otherwise, what would the point of the clubs’ academies be for? To be honest, you need a balance of experience and youth. I would imagine the biggest concerns for any would-be manager would be working with Levy. Levy has gone through managers like laxatives goes through the body.
Levy got inexperienced Pochettino because he was cheap and could be moulded and what concerns me is that Levy might go for a similar type of person. That is why I think he could go back to Mason or Parker (no, not him, Lady Penelope’s chauffeur, but the Fulham manager) or somebody similar (maybe Captain Scarlet might be ideal, as somebody pulls his strings, and Levy would like that).
Mourinho was the biggest manager Levy has ever appointed, but Levy still didn’t want to spend money on transfers (unless players could be sold). There was another side to his appointment; Levy believed that appointing a big name would help him get the naming rights for the club. Again profit is behind any decision that Levy makes, not the team’s interests.
The whole fiasco is making us a laughing stock. Levy is best at being an Accountant, not somebody who oversees a World-class football team. Bill Nicholson must be turning in his grave. Remember his famous quote: “The public can’t be kidded. They know what they want to see, what is good and what is bad and what is just average” Or “Spurs have got to be the best in the land, not the second-best” and “If you don’t win anything, you have had a bad season.” Levy could learn a few lessons from him, instead of looking towards Joseph A. Schumpeter (Economist), “Profit is the payment you get when you take advantage of change.”

I am currently a Premium Season Ticket holder (West Stand) in the new stadium. Before that – at White Hart Lane – a season ticket holder in various parts of the ground (mainly in the North stand).
Before becoming a season ticket holder, I stood on the shelf and various other parts of the ground since the 1960s (the season of the double). In 1987 I became one of the first to hold a Spurs Membership card. I was also a life long member of the Spurs supporters club (now defunct).
I go to all home, away and abroad matches.
I was born in 1955, Edgware, London. I currently live in Berkshire.
I also collect all Spurs books, Spurs handbooks, Spurs programmes etc.

Does Levy believe we have forgiven him over the European Super League fiasco? Or the timing of Mourinho’s sacking? And now, no Conte? And soon, no Harry Kane? Or the most expensive tickets in the land, to watch the last home game of the season?
