A possible slapping for Levy & Lewis by the Premier League

A possible slapping for Levy & Lewis by the Premier League

Yes, Levy & Lewis will have to sign up to a new rule after the European Super League catastrophe.

The Premier League is set to bring in a new ownership charter in order to prevent the possibility of the super-rich clubs breaking away again to form another European Super League in the future. But not only Tottenham, the other five of the big six clubs, who were among the 12 teams who signed up for the breakaway competition, will also be punished.

Humiliation

All six Premier League clubs were forced to withdraw from the tournament following a wave of fan protests. But is it now over and buried? Well, it seems the breakaway tournament may have collapsed for now, but there are still rumours that they may try to erect a revised model. So the Premier League are keen to ensure that the six naughty clubs do not attempt to break away again any day soon.

It has been reported on social media that all owners will have to sign up to the new rule “committing them to the core principles” of the League with breaches punished by “significant” sanctions (possible points deduction, fines and or relegation).

The Premier League has begun an investigation into the Super League debacle to hold those who made the decision accountable. Levy and Lewis are going to love that one!

The PL’s statement read: “The actions of a few clubs cannot be allowed to create such division and disruption. We are determined to establish the truth of what happened and hold those clubs accountable for their decisions and actions.” The FA added: “We wrote to all of the clubs to formally request all relevant information and evidence regarding their participation. Once we have the required information, we will consider what appropriate steps to take.”

My thoughts

It will be interesting to see what Levy & Lewis and the other renegades do next or do they just roll over and lay down while their masters (the Premier League) tickle them into submission. It won’t surprise me if they’ve got in touch with influential lawyers to see where they can go from here. Or whether the Premier league can actually sanction them (seeing as they never left in the first place).

I’ve also read that the other 14 Premier League clubs are totally pissed off with the Rich-sneaky elite clubs, that they are also behind sanctions. I have a sneaking feeling that the likes of Lewis & Levy are plotting something. Banishment of the six from the Premier League will also hurt the other fourteen clubs. In the end, the losers could be the fourteen as the TV Companies would rather have the wealthiest six than the other fourteen. But I am sure exciting times are ahead for the super-rich clubs.

All the best, Glenn
