Match Preview: Spurs v Wolves – another thrilling win?
We face Wolves at Spurs at our spanking new stadium the same day – but 125 years earlier – that John Cameron was appointed Spurs manager. Even though he was manager, he still played for the club. In his time as manager, he won the Southern League for us, but more importantly, he became the only manager to take a non-league club and reach the FA Cup final and win it. So, something to think about when we sit comfortably at our new stadium to watch – hopefully – Spurs thrashing Wolves. And the stadium he played at (and the men he worked under; yes, the owners) had nothing like the comforts of the stadium and money-spinning sharks as they do now. It is all about money, with football coming second. Then it was about football, and anything else wasn’t insignificant.
As we are talking about nostalgia, I want to return to the day I was there, on the 17th of February, 1962. That was a cup tie against WBA, which we won 4-2. Yes, I was six years old. I mainly remember this because of the treats I got, then popping in to see my gran and grandad before the game, then moving onto the stadium and watching Jimmy Greaves outside in the car park, having a kickabout with the kids that were hanging around. But enough of that, to the game this Saturday.

We are on the hunt for our sixth successive League home victory.
We earned a dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend, while Wolves were defeated 2-0 by Brentford.
Match preview
Just past the hour mark in our match against Brighton, Pape Sarr finished from a tight angle to get us back on level terms, and after Brighton looked the more likely to nick a win in the dying embers, Son – making his first appearance since jetting off to the Asian Cup – squared for Brennan Johnson to score with the last attack of the game in injury time.
Johnson’s finish at the back post led to unrestrained mayhem inside the Stadium, as we leapfrogged Aston Villa back into fourth place in the Premier League table.
Wolves’ trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in August 2022 ended in a 1-0 loss. Still, they have since marched to two consecutive wins over us at Molineux and are just 90 minutes away from beating us in three league games in a row for the first time.

Barring cramps for Destiny Udogie – which will surely settle down in time for Saturday – we picked up no new injury concerns against Brighton, and we are undoubtedly in the best shape it has been in for several months.
Only Manor Solomon (knee) and Ryan Sessegnon (thigh) are absent from this weekend’s game, and Saturday could also see the return of Giovani Lo Celso, who was back in team training from a thigh problem before the Brighton beating but ultimately failed to cut.
International returnees Son and Yves Bissouma were only considered for substitute roles last weekend, but Rodrigo Bentancur and Timo Werner are now certainly at risk of making way for the pair; whether Johnson’s winner is enough to earn him a start over Dejan Kulusevski remains to be seen.
My possible starting lineup:

My Prediction…
I am going for a 3-0 win.
Our treatment room is slowly emptying. Postecoglou could put out a full-strength XI for the first time in months, and a first-choice selection will surely prove too hot for the Wolves to handle.

I am currently a Premium Season Ticket holder (West Stand) in the new stadium. Before that – at White Hart Lane – a season ticket holder in various parts of the ground (mainly in the North stand).
Before becoming a season ticket holder, I stood on the shelf and various other parts of the ground since the 1960s (the season of the double). In 1987 I became one of the first to hold a Spurs Membership card. I was also a life long member of the Spurs supporters club (now defunct).
I go to all home, away and abroad matches.
I was born in 1955, Edgware, London. I currently live in Berkshire.
I also collect all Spurs books, Spurs handbooks, Spurs programmes etc.
Previously, I wrote for Spurs Fanzines: The Spur, Spur of the Moment, My Eyes have seen the Glory and various other Spurs fanzines’. I also wrote for the SpursWeb app & its website.
I currently write and work for spursnetwork.com and its website. I write its Reviews & Match reports and a lot more.
