Transfers of Gedson Fernandes & Paulo Gazzaniga
Gedson Fernandes ends Spurs loan to join Galatasaray
Galatasaray have signed Gedson Fernandes on loan until the end of the season after his loan at Tottenham Hotspur was ended.
Fernandes, 22, was Mourinho’s first signing, joining on an 18-month deal in January 2020. Sadly the Portugal midfielder did not start a single Premier League game.
Earlier on Monday Fernandes, who recently tested positive for Covid-19, travelled by a special plane and was met by an ambulance on his arrival in Turkey. Galatasaray confirmed the move on their website.
Fernandes made four starts in a total of 14 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham.
Paulo Gazzaniga, 29, has also gone on loan for the rest of the campaign, joining Spanish La Liga side Elche. He joined Southampton in August 2017 and has played 37 games for Spurs in all competitions. His most productive campaign came in 2019-20 when Hugo Lloris was injured. He made 25 appearances including 18 in the Premier League and four in the Champions League.
Gazzaniga has not played at all since March after we signed Joe Hart in the summer – with the former England keeper featuring in seven Europa League matches and two FA Cup ties in 2020-21. Gazzaniga joins an Elche side who are second-bottom of Spain’s top flight and in danger of relegation. Let us hope he saves their bacon.
